FIFA World Cup 2026 expands to 48 teams for the first time, creating a new format. The group stage features 12 groups of 4 teams each, with 2 teams advancing from every group plus the 8 best third-placed teams (total 32 qualifiers). This means 3 group-stage games per team before the 32-team knockout bracket begins. The Round of 32 is a new addition to the tournament — Canada's 13 host matches include 6 group matches, 2 Round of 32 games, and possible knockout matches at BC Place if the schedule falls that way. All match times listed use Eastern Time (ET). Western Canada fans at BC Place should note games are in Pacific Time (ET minus 3 hours).
